Complaints

If we have got something wrong, we would rather hear it than not. Here is what happens.

If your complaint is about this site

Email corrections@thebusinessbankingexpert.co.uk with the page, what is wrong, and a source if you have one. For anything else, hello@thebusinessbankingexpert.co.uk.

What we do:

  1. Acknowledge within 3 working days.
  2. Investigate and respond within 15 working days. If it needs longer, we will say so and explain why.
  3. Correct anything factually wrong, and note the correction on the page rather than changing it silently.
  4. Explain our reasoning where we disagree, rather than simply declining.

Factual errors get priority over everything else. Disagreements about our opinions or scoring weightings are welcome too, and we will engage with them — our methodology is published precisely so it can be argued with.

If your complaint is about a bank, we cannot help We have no relationship with any provider that would let us intervene in your account, your application or your money. Complain to the provider first. If you are not satisfied after eight weeks, or receive a final response you disagree with, you can refer it free of charge to the Financial Ombudsman Service. Business account customers are eligible in many circumstances, including most small businesses.

If your complaint is about a commercial arrangement

If you believe our coverage of a provider has been influenced by a commercial relationship, tell us and be specific about which page and which claim. We publish our funding position and our scoring weightings so exactly this can be checked, and we will show you the working.

For providers

If we have described your product inaccurately, send the published source and we will correct the page and update its checked-on date. We do not remove accurate criticism, and we do not share drafts before publication — but we would much rather be corrected than be wrong.

What we will not do

  • Remove accurate information because a provider dislikes it.
  • Change a score in exchange for anything.
  • Give advice on your individual situation, which would be regulated activity.
