What it is
A Revolut Business account holds balances in many currencies simultaneously and gives you local account details in several markets — so an American client can pay you as if you were a US business, and a euro supplier can be paid from a euro balance without conversion.
Conversion happens at interbank rates within a monthly allowance that scales with your plan, and at a margin above it.
How it actually works
- Balances held in many currencies at once, converted when you choose rather than automatically on receipt.
- Local account details in several markets, so clients pay domestically rather than internationally.
- Interbank conversion within a monthly FX allowance; a margin applies above it.
- Allowances rise with the plan: Basic £10, Grow £30, Scale £90 a month.
- Weekend conversions typically carry an additional margin.
Who it genuinely helps
- Businesses invoicing overseas clients who want to be paid in their own currency without losing margin on conversion.
- Importers paying suppliers in euros or dollars regularly enough for the tooling to matter.
- Companies with international founders, since Revolut is the most accommodating of overseas ownership.
Where it falls short
- No free tier. Plans start at £10 a month, which is unusual in a market with three strong free accounts.
- No cash deposits at all. Rules it out as a primary account for any business with counter takings.
- No savings interest below Grow at £30 a month.
- Protection depends which entity holds your account. Revolut Bank UK Ltd is FSCS-protected; the older e-money entity is not. Check in-app.
- Not in the CMA service survey, so there is no independent service evidence.
What else does this
Wise Business is usually cheaper for straightforward cross-border payments and has no monthly fee, but offers far less as a business account — and no FSCS protection.
Airwallex does more at scale: global payouts, corporate cards, deeper ERP integrations. Also not FSCS-protected.
HSBC is the licensed-bank answer for genuine international business — foreign currency accounts and trade finance through a global network. A digital FX feature is not a substitute for documentary credits.
Our verdict
Excellent and genuinely differentiated — for a narrow group. If a real share of your money moves between currencies, nothing else in UK business banking handles it this well day to day, and £120 a year is easily recovered on conversion margin alone.
For everyone else it is an expensive way to buy capability you will not use. A UK-only business paying £120 a year for Basic, earning nothing on its balance and unable to deposit cash, is straightforwardly worse off than on any of the three free accounts.
The honest recommendation is to treat it as a specialist tool alongside a UK account rather than instead of one — keep the balance that matters at a licensed bank and let Revolut handle the currency work.
Common questions
How many currencies can Revolut Business hold?
Many simultaneously, with local account details available in several major markets so clients can pay you domestically rather than internationally.
Does Revolut really use interbank exchange rates?
Within your plan’s monthly FX allowance, yes. Above the allowance a margin applies, and weekend conversions typically carry an additional margin. Check your conversion volume against the allowance before choosing a plan.
Is Revolut Business worth £10 a month?
If you convert currency regularly, easily — the margin saved usually exceeds the fee. If you are a UK-only business, no. There is no free tier, no savings interest below the £30 Grow plan, and no cash deposits at all.
Is Revolut Business FSCS protected?
It depends which entity holds your account. Revolut Bank UK Ltd received full UK banking authorisation in March 2026 and deposits there are protected to £120,000. Customers still on the older e-money entity are safeguarded instead. Check in the app.
