The Business Banking Expert
Privacy and cookies
What we collect, why, and what you can do about it.
Who we are
The Business Banking Expert is an independent editorial website publishing reviews and comparisons of UK business bank accounts. The site is published by an independent editor. A limited company is being formed to operate it, and this page will name that company, its registration number and its registered office once formation completes. In the meantime the site collects no personal data, so there is nothing held about you and nothing to request or erase. You can contact us at hello@thebusinessbankingexpert.co.uk.
What we collect
Information you give us
If you subscribe to our newsletter we collect your email address, and use it only to send the newsletter. You can unsubscribe from any email. If you contact us, we keep that correspondence so we can respond and follow up on corrections.
Information collected automatically
Like most websites we collect basic technical information: pages visited, approximate location derived from IP address, browser and device type, and referring site. We use this to understand which content is useful and to keep the site working.
We use Cloudflare Web Analytics, which is privacy-focused and cookieless. It does not use cookies, does not track you across other websites, and does not collect personal data. We can see that a page was viewed; we cannot see who viewed it.
Because it sets no cookies, we do not need a consent banner for it — which is also why you are not looking at one.
Cookies
Cookies are small files stored on your device.
- Essential cookies are needed for the site to function and do not require consent.
- Analytics. We use a cookieless tool, so no analytics cookies are set on your device at all.
- Affiliate tracking cookies are set by providers or affiliate networks when you click a link to a provider, so that any account you open can be attributed to us. These are set by the third party, not by us, and are governed by that third party’s privacy policy.
You can block or delete cookies through your browser settings. Doing so will not stop you using this site.
Affiliate links
Some links to providers earn us a commission if you open an account. Clicking one may pass a referral identifier to the provider or its affiliate network, and may set a cookie on your device. We do not receive your personal data from providers — only aggregate confirmation that a referral converted.
Once you leave this site you are subject to that provider’s privacy policy, not ours. We have no control over what they collect.
Who we share data with
We do not sell your data. We share it only with Cloudflare, which hosts and secures the site. No email platform is listed because the newsletter is not yet running; one will be named here before it launches. The site runs no third-party analytics and sets no tracking cookies. Our site is served through Cloudflare, which processes technical request data to deliver and secure the site.
How long we keep it
Newsletter subscriptions are kept until you unsubscribe. Correspondence is kept for as long as needed to deal with the matter and a reasonable period afterwards. Analytics data is kept in aggregate.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you have the right to access the personal data we hold about you, to have it corrected or erased, to restrict or object to processing, and to data portability. To exercise any of these, email us.
You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office, the UK supervisory authority for data protection.
Children
This site is aimed at people running businesses and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18.
Changes
We will update this page when our practices change, and the date at the top will change with it.
